On Seeing began with a simple recognition: what we photograph is shaped by how we see. Seeing is never neutral. We bring our whole selves to the frame — our memories, our attention, the shape we are already carrying. The photographer goes looking and finds what was waiting there. A picture holds still. The seeing does not. It travels outward to whoever looks next, and they begin looking too.
